I have a temporary assignment in Maputo Mozambique. I unfortunately had to leave the Missus behind due to her being pregnant and there is Malaria in Mozambique.
I have had malaria 3 times before and I don't want anyone close to me to experience it.
My first 2 weeks were good, but I didn't really have much time to explore the city. I took a city tour on a train type bus. It costs $20 and the ticket lasts the whole day so you can jump on and off. The stops are quite short around 10 min, and if you want to wait for the next train you have to wait 2 hours.
The trip starts at the old train station and stops at the market, the Cathedral, the Natural history museum, the garden of lovers, the southern sun hotel and the Craft market. I was a little bit disappointed that the Natural history museum was not open on Saturday morning, but I will definitely try take a trip again. Maputo is not a very big city but it can become tricky to find your way around. It is also difficult to remember the names of the roads with names like Avenue de 25 Septembre or names of Dictators or communists like Karl Marx.
